Law Firm signs lease at CityScape
Jennings Strouss & Salmon PLC signed a lease with RED Development for 54,000 square feet in the first phase of CityScape, a three-block mixed-use project under construction in downtown Phoenix.
The law firm expects to move into the new office in June 2010. It is 20,000 square feet smaller than the space Jennings now occupies at the neighboring Collier Center.
Cowboy Ciao’s Kantak headed for Phoenix

Chef Bernie Kantak, the man who put Cowboy Ciao on the foodie map 11 years ago, has given notice. He’s headed to downtown Phoenix, where he hopes to open his new restaurant in the fall.
Contemporary Forum Presents: An Aptitude For Metamorphosis
The Contemporary Forum and Phoenix College present the next installment of the Eric Fischl Lecture Series on Tuesday, April 14 at the Phoenix Art Museum. The evening will also include the presentation of the 2009 Phoenix College Student Art Awards.
David Salle will present “An Aptitude For Metamorphosis,” a highly subjective interpretation of his work and how it has and hasn’t changed and evolved over the last 25 years. Salle’s work helped define the post-modern sensibility by combining figuration with an extremely varied pictorial language. Major exhibitions of his work have taken place at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art. In 1986, Salle received a Guggenheim fellowship for theater design, and he is a long time collaborator with choreographer Karole Armitage designing sets and costumes for many of her ballets.
Downtown Voices Coalition to hold public meeting Saturday
Downtown Voices Coalition (DVC) is holding another general monthly meeting Saturday, April 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The meeting is open to the public and will be held at Roosevelt Commons at 825 N. Sixth Ave.
Community meeting for Jackson St. Entertainment District project
The Downtown Voices Coalition invites the Phoenix community to learn about the Jackson St. Entertainment District project in Phoenix’s historic Warehouse District.
The meeting will be tonight, April 9, at 6 p.m. at The Summit at Copper Square condominium.
Brian Williams to receive 26th Cronkite Award
Arizona State University announced on Monday that Brian Williams, anchor and managing editor of “NBC Nightly News,” will receive this year’s Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism.
Williams will receive the 26th Cronkite Award on Nov. 18 at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel from ASU’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
CityScape Gets Some Skin
As you can see from the construction photo, crews are starting to add exterior glass walls to the steel framed structure of the 600,000 sq ft Class A, first tower at CityScape. This tower will be home to a couple of Legal Firms, Squire, Sanders & Dempsey as well as Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll. Additionally, the Anchor tenant, Wachovia/Wells Fargo is still on board. Also, in this tower will be a Gold’s Gym and a steakhouse, operated by Fox Restaurant Concepts. Retail tenants who have committed to go into the CityScape project on the block previously occupied by Patriot’s Square Park include AJ’s Fine Foods, Urban Outfitters and it’s rumored that CVS Pharmacy will commit, which would give Downtown Phoenix it’s first Drug Store. At least 4 other Tenants are expected to be announced in the next 30 days according to a reliable source.

Star Trek: The Exhibition enters final weeks
Star Trek: The Exhibition is entering its final weeks after being open for six months at the Arizona Science Center. The exhibit includes authentic props and costumes from the television series and the movies, a replica of the U.S.S. Enterprise D-Bridge where visitors can sit in the captain’s chair, and a motion simulator where they will voyage through a battlefield. Visitors will also learn about Star Trek’s history, dating back 40 years. The exhibit is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will leave the Science Center on May 3.
