Get to Know SuTRA Midtown Yoga
Something seriously funky is rattling a small studio on 7th Street just north of McDowell Road. Here, groups of youthful, bendy urbanites are dancing and stretching their way through “Rhythmic Funkamentals,” which combines yoga with funk choreography. This is a regular occurrence at SuTRA Midtown Yoga, which is redefining the stuffy, prententious vibe most yoga studios throw off.
Anchored Downtown
On the corner of Lincoln Street and Central Avenue in downtown Phoenix is a big warehouse for which there are even bigger plans.
“It’s called The Anchor Manufacturing Building and it’s got a really, really great rich history,” said Steve Rosenstein, who co-owns the building with his wife Andi Rosenstein. The Anchor Building, built in 1928, was previously been a Ford dealership, a city bus garage, and a Hensley & Company beer distributorship.

Chicano Art Exhibit At Phoenix Art Museum
Phantom Sightings: Art after the Chicano Movement, the first comprehensive consideration of Chicano art in two decades, will open at the Phoenix Art Museum on July 12. It explores the work of a young generation of artists working today after the initial social struggles of the Chicano movement, a larger political and cultural movement that in the late 1960s and early 1970s began campaigning for justice and equality for Americans of Mexican and Latin American heritage.
