Downtown Voices Coalition (DVC) is holding another general monthly meeting Saturday, May 9 from 9:30am to 10:30am.

Downtown Voices Coalition is a combination of organizations that embraces growth in downtown Phoenix, using downtown’s current resources as stepping stones for development.

Local Breeze To Open Downtown This Weekend

The official opening isn’t until Tuesday, May 12. But downtown Phoenix’s newest restaurant, Local Breeze, is hoping to get off to an under-the-radar start this weekend.

It’s the work of Sid Campbell, 47, who spent 12 years cooking at Pischke’s Paradise in Scottsdale. He left more than a decade ago to become what he calls “Mr. Mom.”

Art For Health Exhibit This Friday

Shoot for the STARS Photo Exhibit

The annual photo exhibit Shoot for the STARS is returning to Phoenix on May 1, open to the public from 6 to 9pm. The free exhibit will be open until May 30 but only by appointment.

Shoot for the STARS is a program designed to teach the joys of photography to adults with disabilities. Offered through STARS (Scottsdale Training and Rehabilitation Services), the program teaches participants to see beyond their immediate selves by looking through a camera and focusing their attention on people and objects around them.

Dreamland At The Phoenix Art Museum

In an effort to promote filmmakers living and working in Arizona, No Festival Required and Movies at the Museum presents Dreamland, a documentary directed by University of Arizona film teacher Lisanne Skyler.

The film will be shown for free on Sunday, April 26 at 1pm at the Whiteman Hall in the Phoenix Art Museum located at 1625 N. Central Ave.

The Phoenix Contemporary Design Fair (PCDF) will return to downtown Phoenix April 24 to 25 for its fourth annual modern design showcase.

Held from 10am to 5pm at The Anchor Manufacturing Building at 525 S. Central Ave, PCDF is a two-day event organized by About Design, LLC. to showcase the designs of international, national and local companies to anyone interested in modern design.

Phoenix Art Museum Holds Train Tracks Quarter Finals

Launched as a grassroots channel for local musicians to display their talent, The Train Tracks is the most innovative outlet for live music to ever hit Phoenix. Once a week, Valley artists ranging from single performers to entire bands, rockers to opera singers, perform acoustically live on the Metro Light Rail. Their raw, uncut performances are posted to thetraintracks.org where the general public votes for their favorite.
