Despite the relative humidity making it rather sticky outside, a large crowd gathered at the CityScape courtyard this morning to hear Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon’s remarks on the first Downtown pharmacy to open in 30 years, CVS/pharmacy. After brief speeches by the mayor, city councilmen, Red Development, CVS officials and U of A, the ribbon was cut, the registers opened and Downtown had a new shopping destination.

CVS/pharmacy is open seven days a week, Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. It is located at 50 W. Jefferson Ave. on the corner of 1st Avenue and Jefferson Street — light rail stations at Central/Washington and 1st Ave/Jefferson.

Im glad to have the CVS but that CityScape plaza is such a dismal failure. How can someone design such a brutal, difficult to use, un shady mess right across the street from something as beautiful as the County Courthouse?

  2. CVS in downtown Phoenix? I wonder how much business they will get.
