The streets of central Phoenix will be cheerfully illuminated this weekend with the 31st annual APS Electric Light Parade. This year’s holiday festivities kick off with float judging and pre-parade activities on Friday, December 1, with the parade taking place the following day, Saturday December 2.
Get to the North Phoenix Baptist Church Friday at 5:30 p.m. to get a first-look at the floats. While you’re there, stop by Santa’s Village presented by the students of Arizona State University’s Recreation Management program. In this free family event, kids can get their faces painted, play games, and get a picture with Santa.
The parade begins at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, starting at Central Ave. and Montebello and ending at 7th St. and Indian School Rd. This year’s parade theme is Winter Nights, Dazzling Lights.
The APS Electric Light Parade has spread joy to families for three decades now. The parade features dazzling lights on elaborate floats, marching bands with illuminated instruments, performance groups and much more!
Each year about 100,000 spectators come out to view this holiday event, so make sure to get there early and reserve your spot along the parade route. Find more details on the City of Phoenix website.
