Phoenix Center for the Arts invites the community to a fun-filled day of free art workshops for the whole family. Phoenix Center for the Arts’ annual Open House event takes place Saturday, August 26, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Phoenix Center for the Arts downtown campus, 1202 N. Third Street, Phoenix, AZ 85004.
Instructors will offer free, 20-minute workshops in their respective departments, including dance, theater, mosaics, glass, photography, and jewelry making. Several bilingual workshops will also be scheduled for attendees who are fluent in Spanish, including mask making and creative writing. Phoenix Center for the Arts will also feature live ceramics and watercolor demonstrations. Those interested in participating can sign up for one or multiple sessions upon arrival.
Phoenix Center for the Arts offers more than 700 art classes for youth and adults year round. The Center’s newest campus, Thunderbird Arts Center, which opened in April of 2016, provides similar opportunities to the North Phoenix area.
“The Open House showcases who we are and what we do on a daily basis here at The Center,” says Director Joseph Benesh. “Community naturally gathers and flourishes within our walls. It’s our responsibility and privilege to foster community growth through the arts, for people from all walks of life.”
Resident organization, Radio Phoenix, will lead tours of their studio and allow participants the chance to send live radio greetings. Complimentary snacks and refreshments will be provided.
All are welcome to visit the Center for this day of community fun and creativity! For more about Phoenix Center for the Arts, visit phoenixcenterforthearts.org or call 602-254-3100.
