Framed Ewe’s second location and Phoenix General are turning one, and they’re celebrating the occasion on June 16 with a with a “PRIZES, SURPRISES, & oh yeah, BOOZE!” party.
The two shops operate side-by-side in a retail space at The Colony in Uptown.
Voted Phoenix’s Best Eyewear, Framed Ewe is an optical boutique featuring a carefully curated collection of high-quality, independently-made eyewear. It strives to bring distinct, innovative eyewear to Phoenix such as internationally-known brands Ahlem, Garrett Leight and Super. Its Colony location offers full optical services, including lenses and eye exams.
In addition to its current selection of frames, Framed Ewe will be hosting a pop-up shop by Krewe, a New Orleans-inspired eyewear brand, during the June 16 event. The pop-up shop will continue through Saturday for those unable to attend the anniversary party.
Phoenix General, a general store for Phoenicians and visitors of the Southwest alike, features a collection of local and USA made clothing, accessories, home goods and gifts that are ethically created and sustainably sourced, handpicked by co-owners Kenny Barrett and Joshua Hahn. The duo’s first retail store was GROWop Boutique, for those of you who remember the 6th St. and Garfield location. They are going in a more modern direction now, but some items in the new shop still hold true to their love of vintage finds.
The shops’ June 16 event is sure to be a fiesta with tacos and tequila provided by Casa Añejo, an authentic Mexican restaurant with wood-fired twists on classic dishes.
SunUp Brewing Co. will be offering beer tastings, and Shanny’s Frozen Bananas will be serving up dessert and iced coffee for the occasion as well.
Matt Klassen of Saddles will kick off the night with a live performance, followed by the musical styling of DJ Enrique Garcia, a.k.a. Mr PHX.
There will be a raffle featuring prizes from both Framed Ewe and Phoenix General, as well as goodies from other local businesses, so make sure to bring some cash if you attend. All of the proceeds will be donated to the local nonprofit one•n•ten in support of LGBTQ youth and young adults.
To commemorate the occasion, the two businesses will be handing out “1 YR Anniversary” totes. Don’t miss the night’s line-up of great food, music, prizes and surprises.
