On this stretch of 1st Street in the Evans Churchill neighborhood, you’ll find an assortment of restaurants tucked behind lush green trees. This is where Kalin Green and Randee Powell jumped into position, on what was the last day of Arizona fall. That’s not to be confused with a regular fall which provides red falling leaves and a slight chill. Arizona fall is more like a muted summer with the hope of a breeze in the early mornings that will then fade out into heat by midday. But despite the lingering heat, Arizona fall is when streets of downtown Phoenix begin to flourish with bikers exploring and families strolling to these neighborhood restaurants. As the leaves begin to tinge with orange hues and summer slowly fades away, this clears the way for the jump into the beautiful downtown Phoenix winter.
