“Even in the face of uncertainty, lean in to the stability of confidence, in the beauty of choice” – Ashley

As students who populate this ASU Downtown Campus plaza find their minds fluttering with the introduction of mid-term exam materials, there is likely either a sense of affirmation in their choice to walk their chosen path or perhaps a sense of doubt starting to surface.

At the time this photo was taken, Jordyn Siegfried and James Flores were just like these students. It was a hot day and I asked both of them to do what for a moment could have felt like an impossible task: I asked them to both stand on that small slab of cement and trust that they would not fall.

This idea is similar to what many students are likely experiencing as this academic milestone approaches. I feel as though anyone at the cusp of something new and great is feeling the same kind of adrenaline. Like this photo shows, the feeling of “impossible” does not last long and the power of one’s choices will often lead them to that serene sense of accomplishment.
