Voted the “Best Arts Festival” by the Phoenix New Times in 2015, the Grand Avenue Festival returns on November 12, 2016 from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m, with after hours events from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. The non-traditional “walking” and “discovery” arts and preservation festival takes place throughout the Historic Grand Avenue Arts District, from 15th and Grand Avenues to Van Buren Street.
The festival showcases the neighborhood’s unique and creative spirit through special events and exhibits from many of its businesses, galleries, art studios and organizations. The event also includes architectural tours, creatively repurposed cars, artistic performances and more. The festival is presented by Grand Avenue Arts & Preservation (GAP) and Phoenix Annual Parade of the Arts (PAPA).
The community is not only invited to attend the Grand Avenue Festival, but also to participate in it. Here are ways the public can contribute to the festivities:
The 11th Phoenix Annual Parade of the Arts (PAPA)
The Phoenix Annual Parade of the Arts is a family-friendly procession of non-motorized floats and creatively costumed revelers. The theme of this year’s parade is “We Can Be Heroes (Just for One Day).” The parade takes place along Grand Avenue during the Festival, beginning at 6 p.m. Pre-registration is not required, but if you want to compete in the prize categories, you must check in by 5 p.m. in front of Unexpected Gallery. Learn more by visiting phoenixannualparadeofthearts.com or contact Sahar at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Create and model your fashions and hats crafted primarily from recycled materials. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes will be awarded. Learn more on the Untrashed Recycled Fashion Show Facebook page.
Hanging Gardens & Woven Fences
Artistic creations are installed on posts, trees, signs, fences and more throughout the Grand Avenue District. Find out how to participate by contacting Beatrice at email@example.com
