From fireworks to pool parties to pub crawls, it’s going to be an exciting 4th of July weekend in downtown Phoenix! Here’s just a sampling of the patriotic fun you’ll find over the holiday.
FRIDAY, JULY 1
Artlink First Fridays: July’s First Friday art walk kicks off the weekend with its usual lineup of awesome gallery shows, street vendors and more. And even if the forecast calls for rain, just bust out that stylish rain jacket and expect to have a great (and even cooler!) night in downtown Phoenix.
SATURDAY, JULY 2
Freedom Fourth Pool Party at LUSTRE Rooftop Bar: Party poolside at LUSTRE, located on the third floor deck of the Hotel Palomar in downtown. The party kicks off at 11 a.m. and includes live music, beer sampling and giant pool toys. SUNDAY, JULY 3
Local First Arizona Roosevelt Pub Crawl: Explore some of downtown’s favorite restaurants and bars starting at 6 p.m. on Sunday. Enjoy $4 drink specials at each location and a scavenger hunt along the way. Pub crawl stops include DeSoto Central Market, Phoenix Public Market Café, FilmBar, Carly’s Bistro, and The Nash. Clarendon Hotel: Midtown’s Clarendon Hotel will host pool parties on both Sunday the 3rd and Monday the 4th from noon – 6 p.m. Both days will include live music on the pool deck and food and drink specials. Entry is $10 and cabana rentals are available. Find further details here.
MONDAY, JULY 4
Fabulous Phoenix 4th: One of the largest fireworks displays in central Phoenix celebrates its 31st year on July 4th from 6-10 p.m. This family-friendly event at Steele Indian School Park features entertainment, vendors food and of course fireworks. Learn more about this event here.
AZ Diamondbacks 4th of July: The Dbacks take on the San Diego Padres at 6:10 p.m. at Chase Field on Monday as part of their “All American Weekend.” The game will feature tributes to military organizations and charities and will be followed by a fireworks spectacular sponsored by Gila River Casinos. 4th of July Night at The Clarendon: Along with two days of pool parties (see July 3rd listings), The Clarendon will host an evening event on the 4th on their Rooftop Skydeck. $10 entry includes apple pie and ice cream and kids under four get in free. Holiday cocktails will be served from 6-10 p.m. and firework viewing will be at 8 p.m. on the roof deck. This is an ideal viewing location for the Steele Indian School Park fireworks display.
Patrolmen vs. Laddermen Burger Eating Contest: The Hard Rock Cafe Phoenix will host their inaugural burger eating contest between members of the Phoenix police and the Phoenix fire department on Monday, July 4 at their downtown location. Doors open at 11 a.m. and the contest begins at 1 p.m. Charity proceeds benefit the Phoenix Fire Fighters Association (PFFA) and Phoenix Law Enforcement Association (PLEA)
