As the fall weather slowly eases its way into Phoenix, our arts districts provide plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy the cooler temps. Here are just a few great shows around downtown to check out for September’s Third Friday.
“2 Years on Grand”
“We invite and encourage the community to celebrate this milestone with us…” says owners Ruben Gonzales and Monica Robles. 11th Monk3y Industries & The Lab Pop-Up Gallery will showcase fine art from local tattooers, live music from DJ M. Rocka, giveaways and more! Open and free to the public from 7 to 10 p.m., located at 1022 NW. Grand Ave.
“Tato Caraveo Solo Show”
Tato is a local artist and staple of downtown Phoenix with a notable style. His work can be seen in public spaces throughout downtown Phoenix which include large scale murals and collaborations with a variety of local street artists. Take the opportunity to view the details of his work in the comfort of 9 the Gallery starting at 6:30 p.m., located at 1229 Grand Ave.
“Pool”
Plunge into the deep end with artist Abbey Messmer at Eye Lounge, as her installation explores the immersive environment of water. What a great way to say goodbye to the summer! Reception from 6 to 10 p.m., located at 419 E. Roosevelt.
“Outside Inside – A Living Exhibition”
It’s PARK(ing) Day and Treeo Gallery is showing it’s true colors… green and brown! In honor of the activist holiday, Joe Zazzera and Michael Lanier have created a series of living art that will be on display from6 to 9 p.m., located at 906 N. 6th st.
“Further Still”/”Words Are Meaningless”
John Adelman and John Randall Nelson each present solo exhibits that uncover the concept of the deconstruction of the artistic process. Forget what you know, or what you think you know, about common place objects as the Modified Arts kicks off its Fall season. Reception from 6 to 9 p.m., located at 407 E. Roosevelt.
