Phoenix Art Museum hosts 4th Annual Walkabout, Sunday, January 29, 2012
WHAT: Walkabout is a weekend event for the community to celebrate world culture through a wide variety of entertainment such as African drumming and dancing, flamenco performances, Japanese flute music, storytelling and more; historical lectures including history of Arizona architecture, Frank Lloyd Wright mini-tours; and hands-on activities, including sketchbook making and Chinese brush painting. (All Walkabout performances and activities are included with Museum general admission.)
WHERE: Phoenix Art Museum, located at the northeast corner of Central and McDowell. This is an indoor/outdoor event.
WHEN: Sunday, January 29, 2012, open to the public at 12:00 pm. The last event of the day begins at 4:00 pm.
WHY: Walkabout is a fun event with an opportunity to engage in global cultural activities for every member of the family, inspired by the Museum’s international collection of art. Phoenix Art Museum presents this event annually as part of its continuing mission to enlighten, entertain and stimulate the minds and imagination of every member of the community it serves. Additionally, the Museum considers it part of its mission to present cultural activities that highlight our connectedness while celebrating the unique cultural aspects of the world around us, creating a sense of community on the global scale.

The Museum offers free general admission for everyone on Wednesday evenings, 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and for First Fridays, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Some exhibitions have special admission fees.
Hours: Wednesday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Thursday – Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday Noon to 5 p.m.; First Fridays, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Some exhibitions have special hours. The Museum is closed Mondays, Tuesdays and major holidays. The Museum Store and Palette restaurant are open during Museum hours.
