Back in December, the Phoenix Suns held their second annual Tweetup for Suns fans to much success. In March, the Suns will host two more social media events. The first is March 19, Facebook Night presented by Showcase Honda, when the team squares off against the Utah Jazz.
“We felt [the Tweetup] was a successful event and wanted to give our fans another opportunity to engage with each other,” says Suns digital sales executive Mandy Medsker. “We currently have over 77,000 Facebook fans. We wanted to thank our fans in a unique way by also giving them a private Q&A with our Suns personalities.”
The Suns personality answer fans’ questions on Facebook Night is Suns legend and current assistant coach “Thunder” Dan Majerle. For an allotted amount of time after the game, fans will be able to sit in the lower bowl and ask the Ring of Honor member questions.
The second social media event of March will be Planet Orange Night presented by Discount Tire. Planet Orange Night is set to take place on March 26 as the Suns take on the New York Knicks. The guests for Q&A on Planet Orange Night will be Suns radio play-by-play team of Al McCoy and Tim Kempton.
Both events will feature the same perks as the Tweetup attendees received. Fans attending either Facebook Night or Planet Orange Night will receive a specially designed shirt, early access to watch the team warm up before the game starts and the opportunity to participate in the post-game Q&A sessions.
As someone that was able to go to the Tweetup back in December, I highly recommend checking out one of these events, if not both. It’s a great opportunity to meet with some of other Suns fans and discuss basketball. You get a great deal on tickets and the post-game session is very interesting.
The Tweetup post-game Q&A participant was Suns All Star Amar’e Stoudemire, but he wasn’t the only one to stop by. Three unexpected guests happened to make appearances. First, Suns head coach Alvin Gentry stopped by to talk about the team and field questions. Gentry was quickly followed by former Suns super sub and current analyst, Eddie Johnson, and lastly, the Junk Yard Dog himself, Jared Dudley, came out to speak with fans. If this is any indication, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some unannounced speakers talk to fans on both the Facebook and Planet Orange nights.
With today’s economy, how can you afford not to take advantage of such splendid deals?
