The city of Phoenix Neighborhood Services and Public Works Departments and the GreenBuild 2009 Host Committee are recruiting volunteers for a community clean-up event 8 a.m. to noon Sat., Oct. 31.
Volunteers are needed to remove graffiti, trim trees and shrubs, clean-up trash and help beautify the Murphy Neighborhood, 27th to 31st Avenues, Van Buren to Madison Streets, surrounding the site of the Habitat for Humanity Net Zero Energy Home, sponsored by Wells Fargo Housing Foundation, which will be constructed during the GreenBuild 2009 Expo and Conference. GreenBuild 2009, the international conference and expo of the United States Green Building Council, will take place Nov. 11 – 13 at the Phoenix Convention Center. Former Vice President Al Gore is the keynote speaker and Grammy Award-winner Sheryl Crow will perform. More information is available at usgbcaz.org.
This clean-up event is part of the city’s commitment to improve the quality of life in Phoenix neighborhoods through preservation and revitalization, in collaboration with partners including the United States Green Building Council.
