Arizona Homegrown Solutions (AZHS) has been selected as one of 41 finalists across the country for a chance to win $20,000 through a grant from Tom’s of Maine. The funds would allow AZHS to install four water-harvesting cisterns at area nonprofits, including Phoenix Public Market. Green job training would be provided through this grant for underserved populations and free water harvesting classes would be offered to the public.
There will only be five winners chosen by popular demand. Your vote counts! You can vote once a day until September 10. To vote, head to the Tom’s website and scroll down to Arizona Homegrown Solutions, Phoenix, Arizona. AZHS needs your vote!

Head to the Urban Grocery & Wine Bar to celebrate First Friday with Spoken Word Fest from 7 to 11 p.m. on First Friday, August 6!
Saturday @ the Market
Live music by Jim Barnhart sets the mood with the market’s special guests. Live plants at Dos Arbolitos and fresh and local produce, flowers and herbs abound. Botanicals in Clay, UKDK, Tiny Tater Tots, Practical Art, DMC Designs, Vicklet Creations and many more crafters will be on hand this week. Pickled Perfection, Carrizozo Orchards, Poppa Maize Gourmet Popcorn, DeCio Pasta, the Elfish Company, Especial Tuna and DD’s Desert Delights come with fabulous prepared and packaged food and drinks for a quick bite or a take-home treat.
Orlando Zapata from Wei of Chocolate still needs your help with his summer donation drive for several local domestic violence shelters. They need kitchen and bath items, toiletries, baby supplies and gift cards are accepted too. Please help with what you can!
