Stanton: Take Light Rail to President’s Speech
Additional Light Rail Cars Available Around Event
Mayor Greg Stanton’s office is working to make sure President Barack Obama’s speech on Thursday morning is as easily accessible to the public as possible.
Those planning to attend should be aware that there will be no public parking available at Central High School. The Mayor’s Office recommends attendees take METRO Light Rail to the event and disembark at the Campbell/Central Ave. light rail station, which is directly across the street from Central High School.
The city’s transit system is prepared for additional traffic.
From 8 a.m. to Noon, METRO Light Rail will offer three-car service instead of the usual two-car service. Light rail trains run every 12 minutes.
Those driving to Light Rail are encouraged to park at the secure 19th Ave./ Montebello Ave. park-and-ride location, which has nearly 800 parking spaces, and ride the train four stations south to Campbell/Central Ave.
