There are 2 big Conventions happening in the brand new North Building at the Phoenix Convention Center this week, The American Meteorological Society and Imaging USA which is a convention for Photographers. I observed several groups of these convention-goers piling in to light rail cars heading in both directions to their hotels up and down Central Ave as well as in Tempe.
With all the debate during light rail construction about whether or not people would ride the light rail, ditching their cars, I don’t recall much discussion about visitors to our city riding the rail. From my observations Monday night, our visitors were not only having fun but were also probably appreciating the smaller hit on their pocketbook vs taking a cab.
