For its fourth year, Dinerwood returns to Welcome Diner for another unique celebration of local filmmakers and cinema aficionados in downtown. Of course, this isn’t just another local film festival; Dinerwood is part film fest and part filmmaker challenge. The event provides the opportunity to show off your creativity, as well as support the films created within a single weekend.

If you’re up for the challenge, you’ll create a three-minute film of whatever your heart desires, BUT you have to include a specific line of dialogue and a prop provided by Welcome Diner. You’ll meet up on Friday, September 9th at 5:30 p.m. at Welcome Diner to start the challenge and will have to submit your final product by Sunday, September 11 at 5:30 p.m.

It will cost $50 to enter the filmmaking competition with proceeds going toward cash prizes and a donation to the Garfield Community Garden.

The film submissions will be presented on Wednesday, September 14th at Welcome Diner. The night kicks off with a PBR Pre-show at dusk followed by the screening and awards. The “Best Film” will receive a cash prize, and each entry receives a downtown prize pack from some of Phoenix’s best local businesses. Support your favorite films for the Garfield Choice Award, which is selected from audience votes via Welcome Diner’s Instagram. And even if you don’t enter the contest, you’re still a winner with $1 PBR tall cans all night and PBR giveaways.
