Susan Copeland

Susan Copeland is an artist, educator and community advocate. She has been involved with the arts community and advocating for community input in the planning process for downtown Phoenix. She served on the boards of the Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture, the Consortium of Black Organizations and Others for the Arts, Arizona Citizens for the Arts and Arizona Action for the Arts. She was a founding member of Downtown Phoenix Arts Coalition and served as co-spokesperson for the group. She is a founding member of the Downtown Voices Coalition, served as spokesperson for two years and is currently Chair of the Steering Committee Board. Her involvement with the arts community in Downtown Phoenix, includes two years as the Executive Director of Artlink - organizing First Friday and the annual Art Detour. As an artist, Copeland has worked with oils, wood, plaster and concrete to create prints, paintings, sculptures and installations. She has exhibited her work across the United States, Russia and Japan. She has also taught art and English to students of all ages for many years.
