People across the valley are set to give back to the community on Saturday by volunteering on Keep Phoenix Beautiful Day. On November 5th, over 2,500 people are anticipated to participate in 30 locations across the valley to create green spaces in Phoenix. Each year, Keep Phoenix Beautiful Day unites children and adults alike to spread the spirit of volunteerism and the importance of beautifying the community.

Keep Phoenix Beautiful

“The impact of the community’s efforts is incredible,” said Tom Waldeck, President and CEO of Keep Phoenix Beautiful. “In just four hours, over 6,000 volunteer hours will translate to nearly $150,000 worth of investment back in our city. Together, we can make a big difference on Keep Phoenix Beautiful Day!”

Last year, Keep Phoenix Beautiful Day planted 50 trees, 100 plants and shrubs, removed 10,000 pounds of trash and involved artists and students to create 120 feet of murals. This year, volunteers will participate in a 20-mile radius around the valley, connecting to locations near their neighborhoods or supporting locations they care about, such as nearby parks, canals, and gardens, or nonprofit partner sites like Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center and Horse’s Help. Since 2013, over 9,000 volunteers have participated in annual Keep Phoenix Beautiful events to give back to the community.

Keep Phoenix BeautifulVolunteer spots are still available for people to lend a hand. Participants will receive free delicious burritos and T-shirts courtesy of Chipotle’s support of keeping Phoenix “burrito-ful.” Keep Phoenix Beautiful Day projects begin at 8:00 am until noon.  Volunteers may sign up for a project today by visiting their website at www.kpbday.org.
