The annual fight against hunger Design Build competition brought together architectural, engineering and construction teams to construct structures out of canned goods and other non-perishable food items, which will be donated to St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance. Eleven teams showcased their talents while feeding the hungry. In the last nine years, The Society for Marketing Professional Services Arizona Chapter CANSTRUCTION® Committee donated more than 390,000 pounds of canned goods to St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance. The event has become the largest single-event donations for the Food Bank.

During the first week of exhibition, the public is encouraged to cast their vote for the People’s Choice award at the exhibition space and on the Phoenix Canstruction Facebook page. The CANSTRUCTION® teams have the opportunity to win awards for the can structures for the following categories Best Use of Labels, Best Meal, Structural Ingenuity and Jurors’ Favorite by a panel of judges. Winning teams will be publicly honored at an Awards Ceremony and dinner on Tuesday, Aug. 16.

CANSTRUCTION® is a unique international charity which hosts competitions and exhibits showcasing structures made entirely from canned food. Since 1992, CANSTRUCTION® has helped raise over 21 million pounds of food for local hunger relief.
