Are you single? Did you graduate from college? Are you between the ages of 24 and 36? Do you have $35? Do you know what business casual dress means? Are you free on Friday, July 17?
If you faithfully said yes to all of the above, there’s this thing called speed dating, you see, and it’s coming to downtown Phoenix. Coach and Willie’s, down in the shadow of the arena, is holding the event for smart, well-dressed, interesting people (I strike out on all three).
So, what does $35 get you? Well, to start, there’s 20-30 three-minute “dates” where you hastily ask the usual boring questions, then cut to the chase: “Baby, do I light your fire, or what?” If so, put a check mark next to his or her name and move on down the line. If not, well, do the same. At the end of the event, there’s an after party where you can find those check marked names, or you can basically do the same thing you would at any other bar: hit on the single people.
