This is in reference to the March 14 letter regarding downtown Phoenix’s new brand. Just to set the record straight, the branding initiative was paid for with private funds through the Downtown Phoenix Partnership. No city funds were used.

As the marketing arm of the downtown business community, the partnership’s mission is to bring value to the downtown area. In the world we live in, with marketing messages coming at consumers from every angle, the partnership is striving to take downtown Phoenix above the clutter with this unified point of communication.

Thank you for the opportunity to clarify this use of private funding.
